Just Wait (by Tim Klink of Prison Discipleship Ministry

Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

We live in an amazing time in history. Yes, it is a very violent, immoral, and confusing time, but that is exactly what Jesus predicted things would be like before His return. We can get so mired down in all of the “bad” stuff that we fail to see what God has given us. In addition to His unconditional love and forgiveness through Jesus Christ, He has given us some of the most amazing technology that the world has ever seen.

For most of us, we don’t saddle up a horse to go where we are going. We simply turn a key and our vehicle takes us down the road in great comfort. My grandmother died in 1932 from pneumonia, which, for the most part, is very curable today. I fell several years ago and did major damage to my knee, which has now been replaced with one that totally works. As I am studying the Bible for a book or a message, I simply type in what I am looking for and it immediately pops up on my computer screen instead of searching through a number of books, which I still enjoy doing.

You are reading this message on a device that has the power to connect you with anyone and anything in the world. The Voyager 1 satellite is broadcasting valuable scientific data to its base in California from 1.5 billion miles away. The technology that God has allowed man to know is amazing, and yet it is only a fraction of the knowledge God possesses.

With everything man has learned, he seems to have forgotten the most valuable knowledge God has ever given to him, which is to simply wait upon the Lord. We rush ahead doing “our thing” when we should be waiting for God to reveal “His thing” in our life.

Waiting is not inactivity, but rather submitting our activity to His will and counsel. As you move through life with all of its technology, don’t forget to wait upon the One who truly renews our strength, and allows us to walk with Him because of Jesus.
