Just Living Life

Have you ever noticed that there are times when you are out there, just trying to live a life that is consistent with what God asks us to do, yet there are people that look at you like you are some strange creature from another planet?

You know what I mean. You are trying to make good moral and spiritual decisions that glorify God while the world around you is living a carnal and selfish lifestyle. They don't understand you. They have no idea what is going on in your heart and mind because they don't understand God.

Jesus told us it would be this way. A Christian is someone who has had the Light of God shine into their soul. We get it. We see the world for the way it is. The world around us, meanwhile, is still living in darkness.

It was into this world that Jesus came.

John 1:4-5

"In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it."

This is the world in which we live. Many people will never understand what we are doing or why. It doesn't make sense to them but we are told by God to continue living for Him.

God knows our hearts and sees our obedience and faithfulness, and that is all we need. Even if other people can’t figure us out, our lives make sense to Him. He has promised that He will stay faithful to us so we commit ourselves to living for Him and not for ourselves.

Psalms 36:5

"Your lovingkindness, O Lord, extends to the heavens, Your faithfulness reaches to the skies."

So, when I am faced with a moral dilemma and when I am confronted with a situation where I am required to take a stand that will alienate myself from the world around me, I take my stand knowing that it will bring greater glory to God.

That's what it's all about, right? Bringing glory to our Maker? After all, that's why we were created and that is why I do the things I do. Even when they don't make sense to others.

Our decisions and actions may be difficult to explain but we know why we do what we do. It is for God, not for us.
