Just Do It

Jesus never said He would be remembered in history books and genealogies. He said that we would remember Him through the people that He left behind. He said that they would be a light on a hill for those searching for God.

Just Do It

I have a lot of interesting interactions on Facebook. A friend once posted a comment about the historicity of Jesus. It was very well written and very enlightening. What followed was a multi-page diatribe by some guy who blathered on and on about historical records, evidence for His existence and arguments about whether or not Jesus ever even lived. Seriously ... pages and pages.

Here was my response: "zzzzzzzz."

This guy had a dizzying intellect, but he forgot one thing. He was trying to make the case that Jesus never existed while ignoring the fact that there are over 2 billion followers of Jesus today - 2000 years later!

Here’s the problem: You don't look for Jesus in history books and archeological digs. That’s where you find dead people and relics. That’s not where Jesus is. Jesus lives in His people.

Jesus fought this mentality even when He walked on the earth. People who actually saw Him doubted Him even then. Jesus once said these words to a Disciple who was standing right in front of Him:

John 14:9

“Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip?"

The true identity of Jesus has always been debated, even by those who walked and talked with Him. Jesus never said He would be remembered in history books and genealogies. He said that we would remember Him through the people that He left behind. He said that they would be a light on a hill for those searching for God. He put it this way:

John 13:35

"By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Are you looking for Jesus? Look to His church and His people. There are 2 billion of them that you can ask if Jesus is real.

The answer is yes. He is alive in me.

1 John 1:3

"...what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us.”
