It's Just An Extension Cord
Does this sound familiar in your spiritual life? I know people who don't go to church because they don't know which one to go to.

It's Just An Extension Cord
We found ourselves staring at the shelves. There were many, many shelves and they were loaded with extension cords.
There were long ones and short ones, thick and thin ones, black ones, brown ones, white ones, yellow ones, orange ones. There were indoor extension cords, outdoor extension cords, three pronged and two pronged and multiple-headed and single-headed.
There was a large variety of prices, colors, sizes and lengths. So, we stood there staring, trying to make up our minds. Which one should we buy?
Finally, he asked me, "Which one should I get?"
The words came out: "It's just an extension cord. Buy one. It’ll work."
We laughed out loud. Maybe we were over-thinking things! We were literally paralyzed by our options as we just stood there, analyzing extension cords.
Does this sound familiar in your spiritual life? I know people who don't go to church because they don't know which one to go to. There are a hundred options within driving distance!
They don't read the Bible because they can't decide where where to start. They don't pray because they aren't sure where to pray, how to start, who to pray for or how long they should pray. They don't volunteer because they don't know who needs help the most.
Sound familiar? There is only one way to get started ... just start. Just make a decision and go for it. Pray for something, get yourself into a church, open the Bible and read something! That's the only way to get in the game. I know people who are still sitting at home trying to make a spiritual move. As my brother would say, "God can't steer a parked car."
If we hadn't laughed at our own "paralysis by analysis", we would still be standing there looking at extension cords trying to decide if we should spend a buck or $16.
Get moving! A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.
Psalms 119:30
"I have chosen the faithful way; I have placed Your ordinances before me."
