Hiding?

The Bible doesn’t teach us that we are not to be happy or sad, but it does assure us that when those times come that God is still just as present with us as when things are “normal.“

Hiding? ( by Tim Klink of Prison Discipleship Ministry)

Psalm 139:9-10

If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall Thy hand lead me, and Thy right hand shall hold me.

Have you ever found yourself in a place where you didn’t know exactly where you were? All of us have experienced that dilemma at some point in our lives, at least for a short time. With today’s modern GPS, avoiding getting lost is less of a problem. However, consider the times when you think that you are lost emotionally or spiritually; the times when it seems like God is no where in sight; the times when no one really cares about what you are experiencing and everyone is demanding things from you that you cannot give.

We experience times of emotional highs and lows, and each can be as devastating as the other. Times of emotional highs tend to give us a feeling of not needing God because everything is good. But just as quickly come the times of emotional lows which get us questioning God’s presence with us. Both ends of our emotions can be open doors for our enemy, Satan, to enter and begin his destructive work on our relationship with God through Jesus.

The Bible doesn’t teach us that we are not to be happy or sad, but it does assure us that when those times come that God is still just as present with us as when things are “normal.” It is the goal of Satan to get us to doubt God’s love for us, and he will play upon our feelings, our emotions, to accomplish his subtle work. When we allow the thought that God has abandoned us or doesn’t care, the enemy has won a victory.

The verse above shows us that we cannot hide from the presence of God regardless where we are physically, emotionally, or spiritually. The greatest proof of God’s unconditional love for you is His constant presence with you, and His presence never changes regardless of what lies our adversary tries to get us to believe.

It is God who created us, it is God who redeemed us through His Son, and it is God who will never lose track of His precious child. Praise God!
