God Strengthens And Sends: The Final Portrait of a God Who Shows Up

As these encounters continued to unfold, another pattern became impossible to miss. When God shows up, people rarely leave the encounter unchanged—and they almost never leave without a purpose.

Many of the people God appeared to were afraid. Afraid of enemies. Afraid of responsibility. Afraid of their own weakness. Afraid that the task ahead was too large for them. So one of the most common responses God gives when He appears is reassurance.

“Do not be afraid.”

“Peace be with you.”

“I am with you.”

“My grace is sufficient for you.”

God understands the fragility of human courage. He knows how quickly faith trembles when circumstances grow dark. So when He interrupts a life, He often begins by strengthening the heart of the person standing before Him. But reassurance is only the beginning.

Because the God who comforts His people also sends them. The fearful farmer becomes a deliverer of Israel. The reluctant shepherd becomes a leader of a nation. The humbled prophet becomes a voice to kings. The broken disciple becomes a shepherd of the church. The persecutor becomes the giver of the gospel.

Again and again, divine encounters follow the same rhythm. First comes reassurance. Then comes calling.

God does not merely comfort people so they feel better about life. He strengthens them so they can participate in His purposes. When God shows up, ordinary people become instruments in His hands. Weakness becomes the very place where His power is displayed. Fear becomes the stage where faith grows.

These encounters remind us that God’s interruptions are not only about helping men and women—they are about advancing His work in the world.

The God who shows up does not simply rescue people from their circumstances. He invites them into His mission. God strengthens and then sends.
