God Bless You, Charlie!
A few days ago, I posted a quote from Ancient Greece. Plato lived in the 4th century BC—several centuries before Jesus. From his mouth came these words:
“No one is more hated than he who tells the truth.”
Yesterday, we saw proof that our world hasn’t changed much since that time. Charlie Kirk was gunned down and murdered by someone who didn’t like the way he thought.
Are we really here as a culture? Is this what we have become as a society? How is it that we have fallen so far?
Someone recently asked me why things are so bad in our world right now. There is an answer to that question. But I’ll warn you—you aren’t going to like it. Here it is: why are we surprised when the world shows us how dark it is? This is exactly how a world without Christ behaves.
Charlie Kirk was committed to the truth. But the truth wounds those who have invested everything in a lie. When you live your life believing what is not true, the truth becomes a startling slap in the face when you finally encounter it.
How does the world react to that? We saw it yesterday in Utah. We saw it on a bus just last week in Charlotte. We see it every night in our city streets, every day in our courtrooms, every hour in our schools, our workplaces, our parks, and even in our homes.
Yet God can take even the vilest act of evil and bring good from it.
Romans 8:28
“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”
Our nation desperately needs men and women who are willing to get on their knees—humbling themselves before God—and leading us into a better future and a new beginning. Only Christ can do that.
“We are not seeing terrible things in our culture because we vote the wrong way. We are seeing terrible things in our culture because men love darkness rather than light.” —Voddie Baucham
