Forgive Me, Lord - Part 10

I’ll let God deal with the ramifications of a church that cuts out portions of the Bible to suit their own narrative, but let me tell you why words like blood guiltiness are in the Bible.

Forgive Me, Lord - Part 10

Psalms 51:14

“Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation; then my tongue will joyfully sing of Your righteousness.”

A few years ago, we were attending a nearby church on a Sunday morning. It was a very large church that was struggling to fill the seats. On this Sunday, they had about 500 people in a 1500 seat sanctuary.

The service started with a fog machine. The lights dimmed and suddenly there was a light show with some very dramatic music. The worship service had literally become “smoke and mirrors” right before our eyes.

It went from bad to worse when it came time to read the Scripture. A young woman came out and began to read Psalms 51. But, something wasn’t right. I looked at my wife and opened my Bible. Sure enough, she was skipping over verses, including this one about blood guiltiness. I quickly realized that she was avoiding all the verses that made her uncomfortable.

I’ll let God deal with the ramifications of a church that cuts out portions of the Bible to suit their own narrative, but let me tell you why words like blood guiltiness are in the Bible.

It’s because we are guilty of His blood.

Yep. That’s it. You may not like to hear about blood and guilt, (in fact, all the social media bots are freaking out as they scan this right now), but we are guilty and there is a judgment coming about that very thing. You and I are going to stand before our holy God and answer to Him.

There is blood involved and guilt is everywhere. That’s what this life is about and the church that hides that fact will have to kneel before God and explain about those men and women that came every Sunday morning and never once learned that they needed to deal with their sin.

Why weren’t they told? Because their church wasn’t comfortable with it.

I’m just gonna leave this here: I don’t want to be there when God explains to them the ramifications of being a church that does that. They think they are uncomfortable now? I don’t think they’ve thought this one through.

Just sayin’…

2 Corinthians 5:10

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ…”
