Fanny Crosby Tribute
My guess is that you might have a little time on your hands this weekend. So, I’ve put together a little tribute to Fanny Crosby for you.
It would be easy to find a favorite singer or a band that sings a lot of Fanny’s hymns but that doesn’t really do justice to what she has meant to the church. She has made an impact on all of us. The following videos really drive home her broad appeal. Below, you will find her music played by a diverse variety of singers and musicians. You will find everything from concert choirs to quartets to Celtic instrumentals to Black Gospel.
If you want a real treat, take a few minutes and listen to the most beautiful version of “Near The Cross” that I have ever heard - in Russian. Yes, I said Russian. Fanny’s impact has global, not just here in good old America. Next Friday, my hymn story will focus on Fanny’s story so take some time off, listen to her tunes and I’ll tell her story next week.
Enjoy this tribute to Fanny Crosby and I’ll see you in church! God bless!
