This may be the first time you’ve ever heard this, but it’s really important that you get this. You were not created for your own benefit. You were created to please God.

Faith’s Hall Of Fame: Enoch

Hebrews 11:5

“By faith Enoch was taken up so that he would not see death; AND HE WAS NOT FOUND BECAUSE GOD TOOK HIM UP; for he obtained the witness that before his being taken up he was pleasing to God.”

The story of Enoch is one of the most amazing passages of the entire Bible. Enoch never died. The Bible says that “he was taken up” and that “he was not found.” God was pleased with him, and that is such a rare feat that God just took him up, directly from his life on earth to be with Him in heaven.

When we dig into the life of Enoch, looking for some spiritual lesson, we don’t have to look any further than the text itself. Genesis tells us the Enoch “walked with God”. Hebrews 11:6, tells us exactly how that was so special. He had faith.

Faith, as it turns out, is necessary if you want to please God. In one of the most powerful teachings in the New Testament, Hebrews 11:6 says this:

Hebrews 11:6

“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.”

Let’s just linger on what that verse is telling us. First of all, the goal is to please God. This may be the first time you’ve ever heard this, but it’s really important that you get this. You were not created for your own benefit. You were created to please God. It’s really as simple as that.

Once you understand that principle of faith, your world opens up to immense possibilities. Doorways will open, walls will fall down, bridges will be built, and the world will lay at your feet. You have found your purpose in life and it is to please God.

Your faith helps you accomplish that. Once you are on that pathway, walking with God, knowing your purpose in life and understanding what brings true meaning into your heart and soul, you have unlocked the secret to being true follower of God. God is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

Live out the Word, walk with Him and He will guide you right into His very presence.

Romans 8:7-8

“…the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God … and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”
