Day 61 — Conclusion
Perhaps that is why the psalm begins with, “The LORD is my shepherd,” and ends with, “I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” The Shepherd is both our guide through this life and our destination at the end of it.

Day 61 — Conclusion
Psalm 23:6 — “…and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”
Why are so many people unhappy in this world and how will eternity be different?
Sin has distorted so much of what we were created to be. We spend our lives looking for fulfillment in things that were never designed to satisfy us completely. We chase success, possessions, experiences, recognition and comfort, only to discover that none of them can give us what our souls are really looking for.
But eternity is different.
Revelation 21:3 says, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them.”
There it is again. The God who walked with Adam in the garden. The God who made His presence known to Israel in the tabernacle. The God who dwelt with His people in the temple. The God who came near to us in Jesus Christ. The God who now dwells within His people by His Spirit.
He will dwell with us.
Forever.
And that brings us back to the final words of Psalm 23. David doesn’t say, “I will visit the house of the LORD.” He says, “I will dwell.”
And he doesn’t say he will dwell there for a while. He says, “forever.”
The Shepherd who has been with us all the way through the psalm is not simply leading us through this life.
He is leading us home.
And home is not ultimately about streets of gold, gates of pearl or even the absence of pain.
Home is being with Him forever.
Perhaps that is why the psalm begins with, “The LORD is my shepherd,” and ends with, “I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” The Shepherd is both our guide through this life and our destination at the end of it.
And when we finally stand before His throne, we won’t be looking for something else to satisfy us. We will have found the One for whom we were made.
So after sixty-one days, perhaps there is nothing more to say. The Shepherd has led us home.
And we will dwell with Him.
Forever.
