Day 60 — Forever
Revelation 4-5 gives us a glimpse of that eternity.

Day 60 — Forever
Psalm 23:6 — “…in the house of the LORD forever.”
Forever. That’s where David leaves us.
After everything he has told us about the Shepherd—His provision, His guidance, His restoration, His protection, His presence, His goodness and His lovingkindness—David finally tells us where all of this is headed: “I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”
Forever is a word we use all the time, but we have never actually experienced it. Every experience we have known has had a beginning and an ending. We measure our lives in seconds, minutes, days and years. We understand “a long time.” But forever is something beyond our ability to fully comprehend.
Revelation 4-5 gives us a glimpse of that eternity.
John is taken into the throne room of heaven and sees four living creatures surrounding the throne of God. And he hears them saying:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come.”
Then John says, “and day and night they do not cease to say” it (Revelation 4:8).
They never stop. Think about that for a moment. We get tired of repetition. We hear the same song too many times and eventually want to hear something else. We can enjoy doing something we love and still eventually need a break.
But these creatures never grow tired of worshiping God. Why?
Because they are doing exactly what they were created to do. They aren’t trapped in an endless religious service. They aren’t bored. They aren’t wishing for something different. They are completely fulfilled because they are in the presence of the One for whom they were created.
And maybe that tells us something about ourselves. We were created for God too. Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”
I’ve heard people say that they are looking for meaning in life. They ask me what their purpose is. Well, here it is.
You were made to worship God and bring Him glory. Until you learn that, you will never be truly happy or fulfilled.
Tomorrow: the final page on this journey through David’s psalm.
