Coffee, Anyone?
We are the face of Christ to the world. It is our calling to display God’s glory to those around us. Who is watching you today?

Coffee, Anyone?
I am a coffee drinker. There are few things more enjoyable than the first sip of a hot cup of coffee in the morning.
Nowadays, many people prefer iced coffee. I’ll admit—I enjoy a Frappuccino or a frozen coffee once in a while. Coffee tastes great—hot or cold—but when the heat is gone from my hot coffee, or the chill is gone from an iced coffee, it loses its punch. There’s not much to like in a lukewarm cup of coffee. It’s just not very good anymore.
Jesus talks about His followers in the same way. In Revelation 3, He wrote a letter to a church in a town called Laodicea. In that letter, He said:
Revelation 3:16
“So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.”
Jesus doesn’t have much use for lukewarm Christians. In Laodicea, there was a hot spring that was great for bathing and a cold mountain stream that was refreshing for drinking. Both were useful and good, but once they lost their purpose, neither was pleasant. Lukewarm water doesn’t do anything very well.
As followers of Christ, God has a purpose for each of us. You might be someone’s cup of hot coffee, and I might be someone’s iced latte. He designed us in such a way that we can be useful to Him and to the people around us by living out who He created us to be.
If we are not living out the life God has given us, we are not displaying the love of Jesus. We become like that lukewarm cup of coffee—of little benefit to anyone.
We are the face of Christ to the world. It is our calling to display God’s glory to those around us. Who is watching you today? What are they learning about God and His church by what they see in you?
Show someone today how great God’s love is! That’s why you are here. It’s what you were designed to do.
Romans 12:2
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
