Believers
Sinclair Ferguson, a Scottish theologian, wrote: Scripture speaks about God working everything together “for the good” of those who love Him (Rom. 8:28). But what is this “good?” It consists of believers being conformed (changed and remade) to the image of Christ (Rom. 8:29). Thus, all the experiences of life are intended, under the sovereign hand of God, to help us to grow towards the great goal of the Christian life – Christ-likeness.

Believers (By David Peterson)
In explaining the parable of the Wheat and Tares, Jesus says in Matthew 13:37-39: “The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man, and the field is the world; and as for the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the weeds are the sons of the evil one; and the enemy who sowed them is the devil, and the harvest is the end of the age; and the reapers are angels.”
Jesus, Himself, is the sower of the seed, and the seed is the Word of salvation. And, His Word is sowed in the entire world even by other believers. It is Jesus’ words of salvation that have the power of transformation. In contrast, the weeds are sown by Satan, and they will endure a fiery demise.

Ferguson assures us that Jesus transforms, and conforms, all believers and He molds us into being like Him.
A hymn by the name of “I Believe in Christ” was written in 1940 by Bruce McConkie and he captures this scripture meaning today with verse 3:
I believe in Christ—my Lord, my God!
My feet He plants on gospel sod.
I’ll worship Him with all my might;
He is the source of truth and light.
I believe in Christ; He ransoms me.
From Satan’s grasp He sets me free,
And I shall live with joy and love
In His eternal courts above.
Let us pray: Christ our Savior, as believers we await yyour harvest from the seed You have sown. We seek Your kingdom and flee from the devil with Your Word of salvation in our hearts and on our lips. Amen.
