Be Of The Same Mind With One Another

When we read through the books of the New Testament, it’s easy to see that in many ways, the Bible is an instruction manual for the church. One hundred times we find the phrase "one another". When we see those words, God is telling His people how they should think and act.

One of the most important traits of the church is unity. Towards that end we are supposed to be known by our love for one other (Jn. 13:35). We are told to "be at peace with one another" (Mk. 9:50), "be of the same mind with one another" (Ro. 12:6), "don't grumble against one another" (Jn. 6:43), "tolerate one another" (Eph. 4:2) and "forgive one another" (Col. 3:13).

There are more but you get the picture. God's people are not all the same and we often disagree. But, we are to be united no matter how diverse we are.

It is no easy thing to love someone that you don't agree with. But when we do, we are living out the very heart of God by becoming imitators of Him.

My encouragement to you would be for you to learn to love all your brothers and sisters in the Lord. They are not your adversary and you are not theirs. We are just different parts of a building that God is putting together for a purpose. Take some time to learn to appreciate one another’s roles in your church. Pray that you can see how God is using them. God has put us on the same team for a reason: to accomplish the same goal. If we were all the same, what a boring and uninteresting church that would be!

Colossians 3:15

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body and be thankful.”
