Be Happy!

The Bible uses words like “happy, joy, blessed, pleased, joyful and glad” over 700 times. Maybe that’s an indication that there should be some of that going on inside each one of us.

Be Happy!

Every day, when I get out of bed, I pray a prayer. It usually starts with a quick “Thank you” to God and then a prayer for those around me.

My prayer for others is that God will somehow use me in someone else’s life each day. Today, my prayer took a different direction. My prayer for today is that God can use me to make the world better for others.

How can you and I do that today? I have found that the best tool for making others happy is a Bible verse and a smile. Nothing makes others feel better than hearing God’s Word and seeing us smile.

A couple of years ago I went to a nearby city and joined a meeting of community leaders. The guest speaker was a woman who talked about life principles that she had learned over her many years of being a business leader. One of my favorite words of advice that she gave was this: “If you are happy, tell your face about it!”

What a great observation! Why don’t we let others know what’s going on in our lives? Are you loved by God? Did Jesus save you from your sin? Do you have good people around you putting good things into your life? Then be happy and show that to others! Life as a Christian is not meant to be lived with a scowl. We possess hope and joy! Put on your smile!

Psalms 5:11-12

“But let all who take refuge in You be glad, Let them ever sing for joy; And may You shelter them, That those who love Your name may exult in You. For it is You who blesses the righteous man, O Lord, You surround him with favor as with a shield.”

Share that joy with someone else. Let your light shine today!
