Abundant Joy - Part 3
In Romans 3-6, the Apostle Paul highlights for us exactly why we are missing joy in our lives. The problem is that we are sinful humans and God is a holy God.
Our sin separates us from God and, as a result, we live day after day hopelessly unable to add any real purpose or meaning to our lives. We desperately seek for hope and joy but we find ourselves mired in darkness, unable to truly experience a life of joy.
Jesus was all about joy. He knew the pain of being human and His birth and life were dedicated to helping each one us find joy in the midst of dreariness. He healed the lame, restored eyesight, forgave sinners, fed the hungry and taught truth that changed the world. His death and resurrection are called “Good news” because they accomplished something. They brought joy.
Romans 3-6 unlocks that joy by showing us that for those who live by faith, the gates of heaven have been opened up. All of us can experience the abundant joy of God in the form of peace with Him and hope for the future!
Romans 5:1-2
“Therefore ... we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ ... and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”
What do we have to be so joyful about? We have joy because Christ came to earth on Christmas Day to lead us out of darkness and into the abundant light of His love and glory. Thank God for the joy of His Christmas love!
Romans 6:11
“Consider yourselves to be dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”
